Brisbane French Festival

Bonjour mes amis! I ventured to Southbank for the French Festival around mid-day. Prepare for a $5 entry fee (and I thought Eat Street was ridiculous), long queues, cheese samples, and over-priced food. And spot some stripe-beret wearing peoples. We walked around and most of the place are just food stalls. It's honestly nothing out of the ordinary from the regular markets. (BTW not savage)

My first mission was to grab some crepes. Since all of the order crepe lines were huge, I decided to head over the other side and grab something sweet at "French made Crepes". I mistakenly read the sign for $10, when in fact it was $14 but it was too late, I was top of the line. Fuck. My. Life. I got the "Red Carpet" with strawberries and whipped cream.

The appearance looks kind of decent. The texture of the crepe was disappointing and slimy, something I could definitely make at home easily. I was expecting it to be a bit crispy on the outside. Nope. This is the worst $14 I've spent. The quality was appalling. Sad emoji face. Save your money peeps. I feel robbed of it.

Our next mission was to "get one of those sausage things". A.k.a merguez on a roll (we like it spicy) at Merguez Cashbah. It had the word cash, I like it. So we got it. Merguez is a red, spicy mutton- or beef-based fresh sausage. The sauce was chilli and tomatoey. The sausage definitely kept me full (insert sexual innuendo).

Although $6 for a sausage wasn't my thing. And I'm so frugal. I mean practical. I mean economically efficient. My suggestion: Buy a pack of sausages at your local woolies for $5, $1 bread and have a good time with your mates.

My friend's Omelette du Fromage. (and bacon)

This looks pretty good. I should've gotten this instead of the crepes. #REGRET

There wasn't exactly a "French" atmosphere and definitely not enough quality entertainment besides this bubble guy on a futuristic-looking segway blowing bubbles. Tips if you're gonna go: buy food and eat in the line when you're buying your next food. Also, reimburse your money by trying the free samples (I tasted cheese and tarts). Bring water (because $5 for bottled water is not fun). I spent $25 today. Go to your local markets because it's basically the same. Or go for a meal at a nice restaurant. You might have a better experience that's worth your money and time. Au revoir!
