This is a great TED talk on body language. More than just our body language, our confidence and self-esteem emit energy that other people subconsciously feel and respond to. Our ability to be in the moment and actively listen will help people decide who we are and whether we are. Words merely confirm our preconceived perceptions.
I was just browsing/looking up things and I clicked on a link in someone's description which lead me to this speech from TEDx.
Main points: (I think, that I found interesting.)
- In a classroom/job interview/nerve-wrecking situations- the more "alpha" HIGH POWER students/people occupy space, raise their hands and take risks; Increase in testosterone (Dominant hormone) and have low cortisol levels (stress hormone)
- meanwhile LOW POWER have high cortisol and possess "closed" non-verbals (autonomously making themselves feel small)
- When doing a power pose; more liking to: take risks, feel confident, lower cortisol
- Our bodies change our minds -> Mind changes our behaviour -> behaviour changes outcomes
- Practice 2 minutes of "Power pose" ; it could change your life
- Don't fake it till you make it. Fake it 'till you become it. (wow, right)
