Bare Bones Society - Review

Ventured to brunch at Bare Bones Society which is located in the centre of homemaker city at Jindalee. Quite a random spot but nonetheless, it was very busy on a Monday morning at 10.30am. There were no tables but eventually we found a two-people table and just moved a chair across (only brings us closer right?). The waitress was very friendly and apologised for the tables.

The interior is BARE, simple, fresh and modern. And had a nice deck area outside.
(If you're expecting a skeleton-themed joint you're wrong.. but heck, that would be cool.)

Coffee. $3.5 ea.
I ordered a flat white and my friend ordered a cappuccino. The coffees took a long time to arrive and were not hot enough. It was Toby’s Estate coffee so of course it tasted good. However, it was lacking warmth and we could literally chug the whole cup in few seconds. That's not how coffee is enjoyed!(Um excuse me? can we get these microwaved please?)

Salmon gravlax ($18) and "Bare bones" sandwich with chicken and sweet potato fries ($20)

Everything took awhile to come. The wait for food was long probably because it was busy.

I ordered the salmon gravlax. (Gravlax is a Nordic dish consisting of raw salmon, cured in salt, sugar, and dill. Yep, thanks wiki.) It had avocado with spring onion, bread, two poached eggs and rocket. As well as other stuff. The sauce they put on the bread was so good.

Together the combination was fresh and fabulous. A balance of light flavours, nothing was too overwhelming. The serving was big and generous. I very much enjoyed the meal and would recommend.

Overall
  • Good friendly staff
  • Reasonably priced
  • Busy/long food wait time
  • Funky fresh and fabulous
4/5 ★★★★☆
